OBITUARY - MRS. MARY ELEANOR.YOUNGE
By the death of Mary Eleanor, wife of Mr. J. D. Younge, the village of Buxton has lost one of its prominent daughters and the Friendship Wesleyan Church a devoted member and class leader.
For some time, Mrs. Younge was not enjoying the best of health but, was always up and down doing something.
On Monday she complained of not feeling well and during the day was confined to her bed.
Her condition was not regarded as serious hence the surprise when her death was announced.
Of a genial and charitable disposition - she will be remembered for many a day.
Of the deceased, it could be said, that she was "mother" to everybody.
She will be sadly missed and by those In particular who are in the habit of spending a Bank Holiday at Buxton and to those who go up to play cricket.
Of a truth, it could be said of her, that her house was noted for its hospitality.
To the husband and children especially those who are absent from borne, the” Daily Chronicle" offers its sympathy. And may she rest in peace.

Mysterious Disappearance : Piercy Roberts

QUARRY BLASTER VANISHES
The police are probing the mysterious disappearance of a 50-year-old Quarry Blaster, who was last seen while on his way to Georgetown, aboard a tug nearly a month ago.
It is reported that the man Piercy Roberts left St. Mary’s Quarry, Mazaruni, aboard the Toolsie Persaud tug “Lady Chandra” early on the morning of April 17, last. He was last seen when the vessel arrived at Parika at 12:30 AM the following day. When the tug reached Georgetown all of Roberts’ personal belongings were still aboard.
Mrs. Maude Braithwaite, Roberts’ sister, told the Chronicle that her brother was a Certified Blaster with over 30 years experience in his trade. He joined the service of Toolsie Persaud Limited some seven months ago and spent Christmas in the City.
The middle-aged Preparatory School Mistress added: “My brother left town on January 2, and since then I have not seen him, on April 28 we were informed he was missing and the same day two of his brothers-in-law accompanied by two policemen questioned the Captain and some members of the crew of the “Lady Chandra” who substantiated that Piercy was last seen at Parika since that day we have received no additional information about him”.

QUARRY OPERATOR DIES IN CITY
Mr. Walter Theophilus Roberts, Well-known Quarry Operator and businessman, died at his residence, 187 Waterloo Street, South Cummingsburg, yesterday, morning in his 81st year. Mr. Roberts who was educated at the Brickdam Roman Catholic School and Mr. Cockett’s Private School took up the Engineering Trade in his youth, then went over to mining.
Being employed as a Mining Engineer, and blaster with the Peters Mines, the Mahdia Mining Corporation and Barama Gold Company for many years. Shortly after World War One, he went to Panama, then on contract with the West Africa Government on railway engineering assignments. On his return to British Guiana, Mr. Roberts went into business in the stone trade as supplier to Messrs Evan Wong and the Public Works Department.

BLASTING-OPERATOR
Well-known throughout the upper Demerara River as “W.T.”, the deceased carried on blasting operations at Sebo Quarry for about 15 years, being the principal supplier of granite boulders to the Demerara Bauxite Company during their construction work 1939-44 and contractor to Atkinson Field US Air Base during the period of World War Two. During this period he also had interest in the timber wood and coal Industry operating at Grant Hururu, Demerara River. After withdrawing from Sebo quarry in 1951, the deceased turned attention to the Essequibo river where and was managing the quarry at Monkey Jump up to the time of his illness, a month ago.
Mr. Roberts was the eldest of three brothers and four sisters now alive and leaves four children. Mrs. Maude L. Braithwaite, Walter Theophilus Roberts, and Piercy E. Roberts and Mrs. Adelaide Martindale along with several grand children to mourn their loss, all of whom the “Daily Chronicle” join in tendering expressions of sorrow.

Samuel Augustus Younge resided at Suddie, Essequibo. Samuel Younge was educated at Victoria Wesleyan and Roman Catholic Schools and privately. Samuel Augustus Younge married Ivy Elizabeth Campbell, daughter of Alfred Campbell and Elvira Fox, on September 28, 1918 in Buxton Village, East Coast Demerara, British Guiana. Samuel Younge died on February29, 1964.

Ivy Elizabeth Campbell was born June 09, 1897 in Buxton Village, East Coast Demerara, British Guiana. Ivy Elizabeth Campbell died on June 14, 1953.

Children of Samuel Augustus Younge and Ivy Elizabeth Campbell are:
WINSTON HANDEL YOUNGE, born: October 12 , 1918, Buxton Village, East Coast Demerara, British Guiana. Winston Handel Younge died on November 20, 1977.
